Sifu Mimi Chan and Sifu Oscar Agramonte on ‘What makes a good kung fu practitioner?’

Today Oscar and I sit down to discuss the characteristics that make a good practitioner. Wah Lum Tam Tai Northern Praying Mantis Kung Fu is a traditional system taught by Grandmaster Pui Chan, my father.

We discuss the true meaning of kung fu, and what it means to be a traditional kung fu practitioner. Over the years, we see many people misinterpret the meaning of kung fu.

I am fortunate to have been raised in the martial arts world. I have observed traditions, etiquette, and learned the philosophy that accompanies kung fu beyond the physical movements.

Oscar and I discuss the Wah Lum Martial Arts altar and the philosophies taught in a traditional kung fu system. Some of the most important being: Respect, Learning, Humility, and Family.
