I was honored to have this Facebook live conversation with three incredible women to celebrate Pride month back in June.

Dr. Davis was a professor and administrator at universities in both Canada and the United States teaching biomechanics and anatomy. She is also a founding member of the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles.

After attempting to transition in the early 1990s, Dr. Davis was forced to detransition having lost her job and in order to find work to support her children.

Dr. Davis made her final transition in 2015 having gender affirmation surgery in 2016 and has since lived as her authentic self.

Alexa Best is a trans actress and filmmaker based in Los Angeles. She began making films because trans women historically have not had a lot of agency over their own stories. That’s why she believes it’s so important to have films about trans women directed by trans women. It’s not only representation but also a point of view that needs to be seen.
Alexa’s recently completed short film, Emotional Labor, begins its festival run later this year.

Maggie Szabo is a rising pop songstress who has been extremely busy releasing a series of high-profile singles. The audio of her recent single, “Worth The Weight” was exclusively premiered by Rolling Stone India and the music video by CelebMix. Maggie has also been making waves on prominent Spotify playlists worldwide. By working with organizations such as the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, Maggie uses her music and online presence to conquer social injustice.

I had a lovely discussion with all three women about their lives and the song Rebuild tells the story of Dr. Kathryn Davis.
