298. Bernard Chang on Monkey Prince, AAPI representation and art

Bernard Chang artist/designer, best known for his work in the comic book industry and entertainment design. Bernard has worked on some of the most iconic superhero books, including WONDER WOMAN, SUPERMAN, SUPERGIRL, XMEN THE NEW MUTANTS and is currently collaborating with our mutual friend Gene Luen Yang on DC’s Monkey Prince.

278. Phil Jimenez on Wonder Woman, mentors and gratitude

Phil Jimenez is an Inkpot, Diamond, and Wizard-award-winning writer and artist who has worked for DC Entertainment, Marvel Entertainment, and a host of other comic book companies for nearly 30 years.

He is best known for his work on Tempest, The Invisibles, New-X-Men, Wonder Woman, Infinite Crisis, Amazing Spider-Man, and now Wonder Woman: Historia, the Black Label graphic novel written by Kelly Sue DeConnick who I had on the show a few weeks ago.

Mike Mignola has raised almost $100,000* for Chef Jose Andres’ World Central Kitchen, an organization that is providing meals to communities in need across America. What started out as fun sketches to keep busy, quickly turned into an online auction. He has been sketching everything from Sponge Bob SquarePants to plant headed monsters.

130. Michael Lark on his art process, collaboration with writers, and Lazarus

Michael Lark is a Harvey and Eisner award-winning comics artist. He is currently illustrating one of my favorite comics: LAZARUS, written by Greg Rucka. Michael has also provided pencils for DC Comics’ Batman, Terminal City, Gotham Central and Marvel Comics’ The Pulse and Captain America.

As many of you know, I love comic books. One of my favorites is Lazarus by Greg Rucka and Michael Lark. I met Greg at San Diego Comic Con, You can imagine my excitement when Greg invited me to interview him in Portland at his home. I met his lovely wife Jen, and his dog Marlowe, who makes a few cameos in this interview on my youtube channel.

Today, on the show I talk about an exciting event that is coming up next week, San Diego Comic Convention (SDCC). SDCC is the mecca of all comic con! I was so excited when they chose my panel (Cosplayers, Ready your Swords!) that I pitched to them to be part of the 50th anniversary of SDCC. Make sure you check out the schedule for my panel.
