In this episode, I welcome Rich Ting who plays Bolo on HBO MAX’s Warrior. I enjoyed hearing his journey from a Yale football athlete to a Hollywood actor. Rich was honest and open about the challenges he faced and how that transition was not an easy one for him.

We also talk about his dedicated fan base who have been petitioning to #bringboloback since his character died in Season 1 of Warrior.

Rich has appeared in several tv shows and films including The Man in High Castle, Tommy (CBS), Supergirl, and FX’s upcoming The Old Man.

It was such a pleasure to speak with Rich and I hope you enjoy the conversation. My favor as usual is to please continue to share this podcast with others. It would mean so much if you also rate it and leave me feedback.

Actor Rich Ting was born in Los Angeles, California, and is a 4th generation Asian American of mixed descent. An athlete while growing up, Ting played collegiate football at Yale University while earning a B.A, and then went on to achieve a dual J.D./M.B.A. degree. Soon, he realized that switching career paths and pursuing his interest in the entertainment world was the choice that needed to be made.

He began appearing in projects with guest roles on major hit shows such as NCIS: Los Angeles, Supergirl, and Chicago P.D. His determination and work ethic landed him a role in the blockbuster film Lone Survivor opposite Mark Wahlberg as well as on Salt alongside Angelina Jolie. He is also seen performing stunts as a 1st-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do in G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, The Green Hornet, Gamer, and Crank 2: High Voltage.

In 2018, Ting was cast as the iconic character ‘Bolo’ in the Cinemax drama series Warrior, a television series inspired by the writings and work of Bruce Lee. He can also be seen in Paramount Network’s Waco alongside Michael Shannon and Taylor Kitsch.

In 2019, Ting was cast on Amazon’s Season 4 of The Man in the High Castle as ‘Captain Iijima’, a driven, ambitious young detective in the Japanese Kempeitai.

In 2020, Ting can be seen on CBS’s Tommy as ‘Li Chang’, a Chinese-American, boyish, athletic, smart, and successful devoted dad to a recently adopted five-month-old baby girl from China. He was also cast as ‘Mr. Kitano’ in the feature film, Roma 96.

In 2021, Ting can be seen on FX’s The Old Man opposite Jeff Bridges streaming on Hulu. He was also cast in the Western feature film, No Name and Dynamite Davenport, where he plays the lead character of ‘Dynamite Davenport’.

Ting currently lives in Los Angeles with his teacup Maltese puppy, Bada. In addition to working in film and television, he’s still active in the martial arts world, loves to travel to exotic places, and is a true foodie at heart.
