Hispanic Heritage Month is September 15 – October 15 each year. In this episode, I have a conversation with Anthony Olvera in honor of Latinx Hispanic Heritage Month. We discuss his heritage and growing up in Orlando, Florida as a Mexican American.
Anthony’s father was deported to Mexico when he was a senior in high school and he shares what this experience was like and how it affected him and his family.
America is founded on immigrants and their contribution to this country is immense. It frustrates me that the word immigrant is so widely misunderstood and jaded today due to politics. I learn a great deal from this conversation about the Mexican heritage. We even get a chance to talk about my favorite topic… food! Taco Tuesday anyone?
I began this podcast to promote empathy and understanding for one another. These conversations are not always easy for my guests. I’m grateful Anthony shares his story and experience and hope you listen with an open mind.
