In this episode, I sit down with actor and filmmaker Gabriel Prevost-Takahashi, who recently brought Lieutenant Khettry to life in Season 2 of Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Gabriel and I get into the weeds on his approach to movement preparation, what music inspires him, and his deep respect for the stunt team—including his double, Alex Law—who helped make the Ba Sing Se action sequences so impactful.
Beyond the choreography, we dive into our shared passion for history and representation. We discuss his upcoming project, Go For Broke, and the incredible, often-overlooked legacy of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team during WWII.

Actor Gabriel Prevost-Takahashi from FX’s Shōgun is currently promoting his role in the new season of Avatar:The Last Airbender which was recently released on Netflix. Alongside his acting work Gabriel is a filmmaker whose work explores complex characters and underrepresented histories. As a writer, Gabriel’s limited series Go For Broke, centered on the experiences of Asian American soldiers during World War II, earned third place in the Vancouver Asian Film Festival and Bell Media Series Development Program. Gabriel serves as co-founder and executive producer of Van-Asia Productions, with multiple projects slated for release in the coming months.
